Walk to End Alzheimer’s @ City Hall Plaza

Alzheimer’s Association is hosting their annual Walk to End Alzheimer’s event. This ticketed event includes live music, a DJ, a kid’s zone, a doggie dugout, photo booths, food trucks, vendors, outdoor activities, a 1.3-mile and a 3.5-miles route. Registration starts at 7 a.m. followed by a ceremony that includes Zumba and stretching. The 1.3-mile walk begins at 8:30 a.m. leaving City Hall Plaza, right on South Akard Street, right on Young Street, left on South Cesar Chavez Boulevard, left on Main Street, left on St. Paul Street, right on Young Street, left on South Akard Street to finish and disperse at City Hall Plaza. The 3.5-walk begins at 8:30 a.m. leaving City Hall Plaza, right on South Akard Street, right on Young Street continuing on Canton Street at South Cesar Chavez Boulevard, left on South Malcolm X Boulevard, left on Main Street, left on St. Paul Street, right on Young Street, left on South Akard Street to finish and disperse at City Hall Plaza. Food and beverage (nonalcoholic) will be sold and provided. Amplified sound will start at 7 a.m. with a sound check at 6:45 a.m. The following streets will close: Akard Street from Marilla Street to Young Street from 7 – 10 a.m. (full closure); Young Street from Akard Street to Malcom X Boulevard from 8 – 11 a.m. (full closure); Malcom X Boulevard from Canton Street to Main Street from 8– 10 a.m. (full closure); Main Street from Malcom X Boulevard to St. Paul Street from 8:30 – 10 a.m. (full closure); St. Paul Street from Main Street to Young Street from 8:30 – 10 a.m. (full closure); South Cesar Chavez Boulevard from Young/Canton Street to Main Street from 8 – 10 a.m. (full closure). The following meters will be hooded starting at 5 p.m. on October 4 and ending at 1 p.m. on October 5: Browder Street; Marilla Street; Malcolm X Boulevard; Main Street; City Hall Horseshoe; Canton Street; Akard Street; Young Street; St. Paul Street and Harwood Street. Setup begins at 9 a.m. on October 3 with the erection of a stage (24’.11”x23’.7”x42”), tents (thirty – 10’x10’ and ten – 20’x20’), a portable generator, an archway, golf carts and trucks for setup and teardown. Teardown will be complete by 6 p.m. Street closure apparatus will be removed by 11 a.m.

Fluffy-N-Fitness Walk for Confidence 5k @ South Oak Cliff

This new 5K walk is sponsored by Fluffy-N-Fitness. This free event is open to the public and involves a 5K walk with pre and post festivities that include outdoor amplified sound along the route, a DJ, educational and vendor booths and guest speakers. Food and beverage (nonalcoholic) will be provided. The walk starts and finishes at The Fitness Connection, 2550 West Redbird Lane. The routes include rolling closures; streets will close 15 minutes ahead of participants and reopen as the last participant passes through. The 5K walk starts at 9 a.m., proceeds south on South Hampton Road, left on West Camp Wisdom Road, left on South Polk Street, left on West Red Bird Lane, left on South Hampton Road to the finish line. Setup begins at 6 a.m. with the erection of a stage (60’ x8’ x10’) and tents (fifteen – 10’ x10’). Teardown will be complete by 12:30 p.m. 

Good Local Market -White Rock Farmers Market @ Lake Pointe Church

This neighborhood farmers market is organized by Good Local Markets in the Lake Pointe Church parking lot. The market includes up to 70 vendors selling locally grown foods and goods on Saturdays. This event will not require street closures and all parking will take place in the church parking lot. Setup will begin at 6 a.m. with the erection of tents (up to 70 – 10’ x 15’) and teardown will be complete by 2 p.m.

St. Michaels Farmers Market
Oct 5 @ 8:00 am – 12:00 pm

This Neighborhood Farmers Market is organized by Saint Michael and All Angels Episcopal Church. The market will consist of no more than 70 vendors with tents (10’x15′) and tables selling locally grown foods and goods on Saturdays. This event will not require street closures and all parking will take place in the church parking lot. Setup of the market will begin at 7 a.m. and teardown will be complete by 1 p.m.

 

2019 Asian Safety and Health Fair @ The Hong Kong Market Place

The Dallas Police Department is hosting its annual Asian Safety and Health Fair. This event is free and open to the public. The event will include live music, amplified sound and food and beverages (nonalcoholic) will be provided. Setup for this event will start at 1 p.m. on October 4 with the erection of a tent (one – 60’x120’), barricades, a generator and trash containers/dumpsters. Teardown will be complete by 1 p.m. on October 5. This event will not require street closures.

Holistic Health Expo @ Unity Church of Christianity
Oct 5 @ 11:00 am – 6:00 pm

This annual event is open to the public and will include an animal blessing in honor of St. Francis of Assisi Day, patron saint of animals. There will be a variety of healing modalities such as Reike, Massage, Acupuncture, Foot Reflexology, Nutritional Consultation, Hair Analysis, Healing our Inner Child, Holistic non-toxic skin care, Intuitive Readings and more! Art, pet care supplies and other merchandise will be sold (no food or beverage). Setup begins at 9:30 a.m. and teardown will be complete by 7 p.m.

Dog Dayz of Dallas @ Deep Ellum Art Company (DEAC)

This recurring festival and concert is hosted by Bull luv able Paws and Chi Wawas for the purpose of promoting and celebrating animal shelters and dog rescue organizations. The event will activate on the street, at the dog park and inside DEAC. This event includes animal adoptions, dog grooming, a puppy costume contest, amplified sound, live performances, vendor and educational booths, food trucks, guest speakers, and the sale of merchandise, food and beverage (nonalcoholic).

This annual non-profit event is hosted by Dallas PorchFest. This event is free and open to the public, and includes live music, amplified sound and merchandise sales (jewelry, fine art and other hand made goods). Food and beverage (alcoholic) will be sold. Swiss Avenue will close from Fitzhugh Avenue to Annex Avenue from 8:30 a.m. – 9 p.m. for pedestrian safety. Setup will begin at 8:30 a.m. with the erection of tents (thirty – 10’x10’), barricades, port-o-lets, trash containers/dumpsters and signs in the public right of way. Teardown will be complete by 8 p.m.

Crowdus Street from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. Setup begins at 11 a.m. with the erection of tents (thirty-five – 10’x10’), a generator and a PA system. Teardown will be complete and street closure apparatus will be removed by 7:30 p.m.

Dallas Observer Tacolandia @ Dallas Farmer's Market-The Shed

Tacolandia is a recurring festival hosted by the Dallas Observer at the Dallas Framers Market Shed. The event includes food sampling, booths, live music and amplified sound. Food and beverage (alcoholic) will be sold. Host organization will provide security officers for added security. Setup will begin at 8 a.m. October 4 with the erection of tents (ten – 10’ x10’ and ten – 10’ x20’), barricades, generator, liquid propane gas, port-o-lets and trash containers/dumpsters. Teardown will be complete by 10 a.m. October 6. Street closure apparatus will be removed by 8 p.m. October 6.
