Carnival at Valley View Center

This is a temporary carnival that will be held in the parking lot at Valley View Mall. The carnival will include rides and games. Setup for the carnival will begin at 8 a.m. Feb. 11 and teardown will be completed by 8 a.m. March 11. Food and beverages will be sold.  The event will require no street closures.

Too Cold to Hold 5K/10K/Half @ White Rock Lake
Feb 16 @ 6:30 am – 12:00 pm

This event is an annual run for charity that takes place at White Rock Lake. This year will feature a half marathon, a 10K and a 5K run. The Half Marathon will begin at Norbuck Park exiting the parking lot and going under Buckner. It will turn north on W. Lawther and continue until reaching the trail’s entrance.  It will enter the trail on the left and continue under Northwest Highway, turn left on trail running parallel with Northwest Highway, and continue on the trail going south under E. Mockingbird, past the dog park to White Rock Lake Trail, turn left and an immediate right onto White Rock Lake Tail, heads south on White Rock Creek Trail, east back on White Rock Lake Trail, left over the spillway parallel with Garland Road, left on E. Lawther Drive, continuing on White Rock Lake Trail to make a U-turn at the Winfrey Point parking lot, reversing the route until the divide on White rock Trail and White Rock Creek Trail at the dog park and continues right over the pedestrian bridge exiting White Rock Lake Trail and going left onto E. Lawther Drive to the Buckner underpass, turns right under the Buckner Bridge to Norbuck Park where it will finish and disperse. The 10K will begin at Norbuck Park and go under Buckner going north on W. Lawther to the trail’s entrance, enters trail on the left and continues under Northwest Highway, left on trial running parallel with Northwest Highway, left on White Rock Creek Trail, goes under E. Mockingbird past dog park, left and an immediate right onto White Rock Lake Trail to trail marker WRT137 and makes a U-turn reversing the route until the divide at White Rock Trail and White Rock Creek Trail and makes a right over the pedestrian bridge, exits White Rock Lake Trail, makes a left onto E. Lawther Drive to the Buckner Underpass, goes right under the Buckner Bridge to Norbuck Park where it will finish and disperse.  The 5K will begin at Norbuck Park and go under Buckner going north on W. Lawther and continuing until the trail’s entrance, enters trail and going left under Northwest Highway and under E. Mockingbird to White Rock Lake Trail, makes a left and an immediate left onto White Rock Lake Trail, returns to dog park continuing over the pedestrian bridge to White Rock Lake Trail, goes left onto E. Lawther Drive to Buckner underpass, going right under the Buckner Bridge to Norbuck Park where it will finish and disperse. Setup for the event will begin at 9 a.m. Friday, February 15, and teardown will be immediately following the event.  Ten 10’x10’ & Four 10’x20’ tents and One 48”X20’X24’ stage will be erected for the event with amplified sound, in one location, beginning at 6:30 a.m. Free food and alcoholic beverages will be served to participants. The projected number of participants is 1,000.

Form Follows Fitness 5K @ Klyde Warren Park

This 5K is benefit run for the Dallas Center for Architecture’s scholarships program for young children interested in becoming architects. The run starts at 8:30 a.m. at Harwood Street & W/B Woodall Rodgers Freeway Service Road, proceeds north on Harwood Street (all lanes) to Cedar Springs Road (two lanes), right on Cedar Springs Road  to Maple Avenue (two lanes), right on Maple/Routh Connection (two lanes), right on Flora Street to Harwood St. (two lanes), left on Harwood to San Jacinto Street (two lanes), right on San Jacinto St. (two lanes), right on Field Street (full closure), left on Ross Avenue (two lanes), right on Record Street (two lanes), right on McKinney Avenue /Woodall Rodgers frontage road (two lanes) finish and disperse at Klyde Warren Park. Forty 10’x10’ tents will be erected in the park.  Setup will begin at 2 p.m. Feb. 15 and teardown will be completed by 2 p.m.

City of Dallas are hosting their first annual Food Trucks on the Plaza event located at City Hall Plaza. Food trucks will be parked on Marilla between City Hall Building and Henry Moore sculpture. The sale of food & beverage (Non-alcohol) will be provided. Set up starts at 10 a.m. and teardown concludes at 2 p.m. Monday through Friday. Dallas Security will incorporate the normal city hall exterior patrols with the event. On Wednesdays, patrols would be less due to council meetings and staffing requirements. Estimated event attendance 100. Event Starts February 19- June 14, 2019, we are issuing 30-day permits.
