Too Cold to Hold 5K/10K/Half Marathon @ White Rock Lake

This is an annual run hosted by Race Systems, Inc at White Rock Lake. The event will feature a half marathon, a 10K and a 5K run. Pre and post-race festivities take place in Norbuck Park and include outdoor amplified sound beginning at 7 a.m. and food and beverage (alcoholic) will be provided to participants. All races start and finish at Norbuck Park.The Half Marathon begins at 8:15 a.m., exits the parking lot, continues under Buckner Blvd., right on E. Lawther, left on the trail before Northwest Highway, left on Flag Pole Hill Trail, left on White Rock Creek Trail, continue south on White Rock Lake Trail, cross the boathouse bridge, merge onto the White Rock Creek Trail, continue around the east side of the lake on the White Rock Lake Trail, U-turn at the Winfrey Point parking lot, reversing the route back toward the dog park, continue on White Rock Lake Trail, pass the dog park, across the pedestrian bridge, left on E. Lawther Drive, right on the Buckner Bridge underpass to the finish line.The 10K begins at 8:15 a.m., exits the parking lot, continues under Buckner Blvd., right on E. Lawther, left on the trail before Northwest Highway, left on Flag Pole Hill Trail, left on White Rock Creek Trail, continue south on White Rock Lake Trail, U-turns near Fisher Road at trail marker WRT137 reversing the route back toward the dog park, continue on White Rock Lake Trail, pass the dog park, across the pedestrian bridge, left on E. Lawther Drive, right on the Buckner Bridge underpass to the finish line.The 5K will begin at 8:30 a.m., exits the parking lot, continue under Buckner Blvd., left on E. Lawther, continue south on E. Lawther, U-turn at the double gates closest to Big Thicket, reversing the route to return to the finish line.  Setup will begin Friday, January 31 at 9 a.m. with the erection of a stage (36”x16’x20’) and tents (ten – 10’x10’ and four – 10’x20’). Teardown will be complete by 2 p.m.

Merchandise, food, and beverage (nonalcoholic) will be sold. Parking meters will be hooded from 100 to 199 N. Crowdus Street from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Setup begins at 10 a.m. with the erection of tents (thirty five – 10’x10’) and a PA system. Teardown will be complete and street closure apparatus will be removed by 7 p.m.

Hot Chocolate 5K/15K @ Fair Park

RAM Racing is hosting their annual Hot Chocolate 5K/15K race that will start and finish in Fair Park. This ticketed event includes a 15K (9.3 miles), a 5K (3.1 miles), live music, amplified sound, outdoor activities, four Aid Stations along the route and the use of the Santa Fe Trail. Food and beverage (nonalcoholic) will be provided and merchandise will be sold. The 5K race departs from Fair Park at 7:30 a.m.; left on Haskell Avenue; right on Main Street; right on Peak Street merging onto Stonewall Street then onto Haskell Street; right on Fitzhugh Avenue; right on Gaisford Street; left on Pennsylvania Avenue ending at Fair Park. The 15K race departs from Fair Park at 8:15 a.m.; left on Haskell Avenue; right on Bryan Street; left on Greenville Avenue; right on Lewis Street; left on Skillman Street; right on LaVista Drive; right on Shore Drive; right on the Santa Fe Trail; right on Willow Street; left on Peak Street merging onto Stonewall Street then onto Haskell Street; right on Fitzhugh Avenue; right on Gaisford Street onto Washington Street; left on McKenzie Street; right on Pennsylvania Avenue and back into Fair Park. Setup begins at 8 a.m. on February 6 with the erection of stages (one – 16’x8’x10” and two – 8’x8’x20”), tents (four – 10’x10’, one – 10’x30’, one – 30’x60’, one – 120’x40’, one – 40’x40’, one – 20’x20’ and one – 10’x20’), liquid propane gas and a portable generator. Teardown will be complete by 5 p.m. on February 9. Street closure apparatus will be removed by 5 p.m. February 10.

Lakewood Village Farmer’s Market

This recurring Lakewood Village Farmers Market is organized by Good Local Markets, Inc. The market is hosted on Sundays from 9 a.m. – 2 p.m. from February 9 through August 30 in the parking lot of Lakewood Village Shopping Center, 6434 E Mockingbird Lane, Dallas, TX 75214. The market includes a daily maximum of 30 vendors each selling locally grown food and locally crafted and produced goods. Setup begins at 7 a.m. with the erection of vendor tents and tables (up to 30 – 10’X15’ stalls) and teardown will be complete by 4 p.m.

Racing Systems is hosting their annual Heart and Sole 5K. This ticketed event includes a 5K/1K Fun Run on White Rock Lake Trail, a DJ, vendors and amplified sound. Food and beverage (alcoholic) will be provided. The 1K starts at 8:30 a.m. leaving Winfrey Point Drive; left on Emerald Isle Drive; left on White Rock trail; U-turn before E. Lawther Drive back to Winfrey Point to finish and disperse. The 5K run starts at 9 a.m. leaving Winfrey Point Drive; left on Emerald Isle Drive; left on White Rock trail; U-turn before Garland Road back to Winfrey Point to finish and disperse. Setup begins at 4 a.m. with the erection tents (eight – 10’x10’) and a portable generator. Teardown will be complete by Noon.

This annual 5K benefits the Dallas Center for Architecture’s scholarships program for young children interested in becoming architects. The activation within the park is managed by Woodall Rodgers Park Foundation. This permit covers the related street closures. The route includes rolling closures; streets will close 15 minutes ahead of participants and reopen as the last participant passes through. The run starts at 8:30 a.m. at Harwood Street & W/B Woodall Rodgers Freeway Service Road, proceeds north on Harwood Street, right on Cedar Springs Road, right on Maple Avenue/Routh Street connection, right on Flora Street, left on Harwood Street, right on San Jacinto Street, right on Field Street, left on Ross Avenue, right on Record Street, right on McKinney Avenue /Woodall Rodgers frontage road finish and disperse at Klyde Warren Park. Setup at Klyde Warren Park will begin at 2 p.m. on February 14 with the erection of tents (thirty – 10’x10’ and seven – 10’x20’) and will be complete by 2 p.m. Street closure apparatus will be removed by 2 p.m.

Cupid’s Undie Run @ Trees Dallas

This annual event hosted by the Children’s Tumor Foundation is a 1-mile fun run that raises money for Neurofibromatosis Research. The following route includes street closures beginning at 1:45 p.m. for a start time departing Trees Dallas at 2 p.m. Participants will pour out of the building and make a right on Elm Street, right on July Alley, left on N Crowdus Street, right on Indiana Street, left on N Malcolm X Boulevard, left on Gaston Avenue, left on N Good Latimer Expressway, left on Monument Street, right on Indiana Street, right on July Alley and left on Elm Street (against traffic) to return to start, where participants will enter Trees Dallas to finish the fundraising celebration indoors. All streets will reopen by 3 p.m. There is no set-up or tear down required for this event and aside from the required street closures, there is no additional staging that will activate outside.
