Holiday in the Highlands – CANCELLED

This annual event is a home tour of four homes that ends at the Highland Oaks Church of Christ at 10805 Walnut Hill Lane. There will be performance from the high school show choir.  A small 8’x10’x4” stage will be erected in front of the church. This event will require no street closures.

Dallas Marathon 5k/10k & 2 Mile Walk @ City Hall Plaza
Dec 8 @ 8:00 am – 11:00 am

 

This 5k ,10k and 2 Mile race is held in conjunction with the annual BMW Dallas Marathon. The courses wind through downtown Dallas and surrounding areas.

The race will use the same start/finish line as the BMW Dallas Marathon and the same post-race footprint. The start and finish will be on City Hall Plaza set-up will begin at 8 a.m. Dec. 1 and teardown will be completed by 6 a.m. Dec. 10. The event will require the following closures around City Hall:

Marilla Street between Young Street and Akard Street beginging at 7 am Dec. 5 to 10 p.m. Dec. 9;

Young Street between Field Street and St. Paul Street will close from 9 am. through 4 p.m. Dec. 7 and again at 7 p.m. through 10 p.m. Dec. 9

Ervay Street between Young St. and Subway lot (north entrance) will close from 9 am. through 4 p.m. Dec. 6 & 7 and again at 7p.m. through 10 p.m. Dec. 9

SB Akard Street between Young St. and Canton St. will close between 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Dec. 7 and again at 7 p.m. through 10 p.m. Dec. 9;

NB Akard St. between Wood Street and Young St. will be closed between 7 p.m. Dec. 7 through 10 p.m. Dec. 9;

Ervay St. between Canton Street and Young St. will close between 9 am. through 4 p.m., and from 7 p.m. through 10p.m. Dec. 6 again on Dec. 7 and will remain closed after 7 p.m. until 10 p.m. Dec. 9;

Browder Street between Young St. and north side of Horseshoe lot 9 a.m. Dec. 5 through 10 p.m. Dec. 9;

North Pioneer parking lot at Young St. will close at 4:30 a.m. on Dec. 3 through 6 a.m. Dec. 10 and South Pioneer parking lot on Griffin Street will close at 4:30 a.m. Dec. 6 through 6 a.m. Dec. 10, 2018 for equipment and medical staging.

The 10K at 8 a.m. will start at Marilla St /Akard St running west, proceed west on Young Street, right on Market Street, left on Main Street straight on to Commerce Street, right on Riverfront Boulevard, left on Ronald Kirk Bridge, U-Turn before Trinity River, proceed east on Ronald Kirk Bridge, right on Riverfront Blvd., left on Commerce St. /Main St., right on Walton Street, right on Commerce St., left on S. Good Latimer Expressway, right on Canton Street, proceed on Young St., left on Ervay St., right on Marilla St. to the finish line just before Akard St.

The 5K at 8:10 a.m. will start at Marilla St /Akard St running west, proceed west on Young St., right on S. Lamar Street, right on Main St., right on Walton St., right on Commerce St., left on S. Good Latimer Expy., right on Canton St., proceed on Young St., left on Ervay St., right on Marilla St. to the finish line just before Akard St.

The 2-Mile Walk at 8:20 a.m. will start at Marilla St /Akard St running west, proceed west on Young St., right on Wood St., right on S. Lamar Street, right on Main St., right on Cesar Chavez Blvd., right on Canton St./Young St., left on Ervay St., right on Marilla St. to the finish line just before Akard St.

Post- race events will be at City Hall Plaza. Set-up will begin at 4 a.m. Dec. 5 and teardown will be completed by 6 a.m., Dec. 10, 2018. City Hall Garage via Akard Street will be open for VIP, volunteer and Board Member parking from 6 a.m. through 12 p.m. Saturday, December 8 and 6 a.m. through 4 p.m. Sunday, December 9, 2018. City Hall Horseshoe parking will be closed from 6 p.m., Dec. 7 through 10 p.m., Dec. 9, 2018. The following tents will be erected for the event: ten 10’x10’, two 10’x20’, one 30’x50’ one 30’x70’.

Oak Cliff Lions Club Farmers Market
Dec 8 @ 8:00 am – 9:00 am

This event is a Neighborhood Farmers Market organized by the Oak Cliff Lions Club to occur on the property of Lula B’s (parking lot) at 1982 Fort Worth Ave.

The Oak Cliff Lions Club Farmers Market will consist of up to 35 vendors that will set up booths, tents (10×15) and tables to sell locally grown produce, foods and goods on the second and fourth Saturday thru December 22.

This event will not require street or lane closures and all parking will take place in the church parking lot. Set up of the market will begin at 7 a.m. and teardown at 12 p.m.

The market hours are from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m.

White Rock Farmers Market @ Lake Pointe Church - Parking Lot
Dec 8 @ 8:00 am – 1:00 pm

This event is a Neighborhood Farmers Market organized by Good Local Markets to occur on the property of Lake Pointe Church (parking lot) at 9150 Garland Rd.

The White Rock Farmers Market will consist of up to 70 vendors that will set up booths, tents and tables to sell locally grown produced foods and goods on Saturdays thru December 8.

This event will not require street or lane closures and all parking will take place in the church parking lot. Set up of the market will begin at 6 a.m.and teardown at 1p.m.

Market hours are from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. (exception on December 8th which is extended to 3 p.m.)

BMW Dallas Marathon @ City Hall Plaza

The BMW Dallas Marathon race, (26.2 miles) is an annual event that takes place downtown Dallas and surrounding areas. The start and finish will be on City Hall Plaza; set-up will begin at 8 a.m. Dec. 1 and teardown will be completed by 6 a.m. Dec. 10. The event will require the following closures around City Hall:

Marilla Street between Young Street and Akard Street beginging at 7 am Dec. 5 to 10 p.m. Dec. 9;

Approximately twenty-one tents ranging in size of 10’x10’ up to 40’x80’ will be erected at City Hall Plaza for sponsors, charity and/or vendors. A Jumbotron will be place on Akard St. Ten stages will be erected along the route and a portable 9’x24’x36” flatbed stage at the start/finish line.

Mananitas a la Virgen de Guadalupe @ Chilangolandia Sabor Unico Inc.

Mananitas a la Virgen de Guadalupe is an annual recurring event celebrating the birthday of the Virgin Mary with prayer, songs, dancers and live music. Non-sale of food and beverage (non-alcohol) will be provided through-out the event. Set-up starts at 4 p.m. which includes the erection of a tent (32×20). Outdoor amplified sound is permitted between the hours of 6 p.m. – 10 p.m. only. Event starts at 6 p.m. and concludes at 11 p.m. Tear down will be completed by 11:50 p.m. day of the event. The estimated attendance is 90.

Feast of Our Lady of Guadalupe @ Cathedral Santuario de Guadalupe
Dec 11 @ 8:00 pm – Dec 12 @ 2:00 am

This is a street closure only permit as the event will be held completely inside Cathedral Guadalupe Church at 2215 Ross Avenue. To accommodate lines outside, the event will require a closure of Crockett Street from Flora Street to Ross Avenue and Ross Avenue from Leonard Street to N. Pearl Street from 7:00 p.m. on Monday, December 11, 2017 through 2:00 a.m. on Tuesday, December 12, 2017 for crowd control. Access to the Hall Garage entrance/exit will be needed during this closure, as the garage will host parking for this event. The projected attendance is 10,000.

Casa Linda Farmers Market @ 9540 Garland Road

This is a Neighborhood Farmers Market organized by the Four Seasons Market LLC to occur on the property of Casa Linda (Edens) at 9540 Garland Road (parking lot).

The Casa Linda Farmers Market hours are from 12pm – 4pm, The market will occur on ‘most’ Wednesday of each month thru December 19, 2018. The market will consist of no more than 70 vendors that will set up booths, tents (10×10) and tables to sell locally grown produce foods and goods.

Fiesta Posadas
Dec 12 @ 5:00 pm – 8:00 pm

This annual celebration with entertainment is hosted by Fiesta Mart as a “thank you” for your service to their customers. The event is free to the public; there will be giveaways, face painting and DJ music. Ten 10’x10’ tents and a 40”x24’x26’ stage will be erected. Set-up will begin at 1 p.m. and teardown will be completed by 10 p.m.
